The Poetic Lexicon in the Diwan of Ibn Hisham al-Qurtubi
Abstract
This study addresses one of the literary aspects in the poetry of Ibn Hisham al-Qurtubi, namely the poetic lexicon. The research sheds light on the most prominent lexical fields that dominate the poet’s literary output and the meanings they convey, contributing to the depth of the themes and ideas he expressed. These lexical fields include words related to nature, love and libertinism, intoxication and wine, and praise. The study also includes a brief overview of the poet’s biography, his era, and status, in addition to an introduction to the concept of the poetic lexicon and the methodology for analyzing it in poetic works.
